Lt Gen Jaswant Singh Ahluwalia, PVSM (retd)


Lt Gen J. S. Ahluwalia, PVSM (retd) is President of the ‘Institute of Directors’ and of the ‘World Environment Foundation’ (WEF). A Post Graduate in Electronics Engineering and MBA, he had specialized in engineering support to weapon systems of the Army. He has undergone extensive training in various manufacturing concerns in France, UK, USSR and Japan. He is an alumnus of the National Defence College and College of Defence Management.

Lt Ahluwalia is also a Chartered Engineer and Fellow Member of a large number of foreign and Indian professional engineering and management institutions. He was chairman of the ‘Institution of Engineers (INDIA)’, President of ‘Delhi Management Association’. He has also been on the Board of Governors of ‘Engineering staff College of India’, ‘Quality Council of India’ (QCI), ‘All India Management’ (AIMA), and many other quality and environment certification bodies.

He has organized and addressed several national and international seminars, workshops, training programmes and conferences in India and abroad.

He has authored, edited and published over 40 books covering ‘Leadership’, ‘Total Quality Management’, ‘Environment Management ‘ , ‘Corporate Governance’, ‘CSR’, ‘Competition Law’ and ‘Sustainability’. He is the ‘Professional Advisor’ and Member of the Jury of Golden Peacock Awards for Corporate Excellence, since their inception. He represented Govt of India at the International seminar on ‘Quality and Business Excellence Awards’ in Singapore in 2006’, and was keynote speaker on ‘Corporate Governance’ in a Seminar in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2007.

He is a lead auditor for SA 8000(Social Accountability) and many other standards. He has conducted over 100 Lead Auditor training courses in these areas in UK and India, alongside leading over 400 audits of major organizations, since 1995.

He was selected for the World Bank ‘Train the Trainer’, program for ‘Corporate Governance’. He is ‘Chief Instructor’ of ‘Masterclass’ training programmes for Corporate Directorship, organized by the Institute of Directors, since 2003 of which more than 40 ‘Masterclass’ programmes have been organized in the last one year alone. He is a much sought after specialist and trainer in Boardroom practices, CG, sustainability, CSR, Business Ethics, Integrated Management Systems and Corporate Strategy including Balanced Score Card.

He retired from the army in Dec 1994, as the Chief Executive and Director General of the ‘Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers’, of the Indian Army. He was awarded the highest decoration of ‘Param Vishist Seva Medal’, by the President of India.
