Niranjan Khatri

GM Environment Initiatives, ITC Hotels
Mr Khatri is the General Manager (GM) for Environment Initiatives at ITC hotels India. He has a background in hotel management with extensive experience in GM positions within various ITC hotels all in which he pioneered the concept of eco designing.

Mr Khatri has submitted papers to ILO /CORNELL UNIVERSITY on eco-designing in 1994. He headed the Confederation of Indian Industries’ (CII) renewable energy cell for a year between 1996 and 1997.
Following this, Mr Khatri developed eco-rating for the Delhi Government, which has been distributed to 1200 schools, translated into Marathi and further distributed to 6000 schools.

He is an ex-faculty member of the Railway Staff College, Baroda. He has conducted 30 sessions on eco-designing for senior management of the Indian Railways.
Similarly he has also conducted several eco-designing sessions for many public and private sector companies including; BHEL, CEL, TATA, BP SOLAR, WIPRO and the Karnataka Pollution Control Board/ Power Finance Corporation, IIT’s MDI, SP Jain & many chambers of commerce in India.

Mr Khatri has several credentials, as follows;

  • Ex-convener of the water committee of CII Delhi council.
  • Currently a member of the power & water committee of CII northern region /national committee respectively.
  • Chairperson of the sustainable development committee of the Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India-western region.
  • Member of Arunim, an arm of the Ministry of Social Justice
  • On the board of the National Trust, part of the Ministry of Social Justice
  • On the Governing Body of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs
  • Served as a Non- Executive Director in Central Electronics Ltd for 5 years.
  • Recipient of the Helen Keller Award 2006 & 2011, Karamveer Puraskar 2009, and the Green Hotelier Award 2010.
