Prof. Ujjwal K. Chowdhury

Prof.Ujjwal K. Chowdhury, a front-ranking media educator of India, was earlier the Dean of Symbiosis International University for seven years, and now the Dean of Whistling Woods International School of Media & Communication, in Mumbai, chaired by the leading Bollywood film-maker and producer Subhash Ghai.

Prof Chowdhury is also the Consulting Director of ACORE Group, with ACORE Management Consulting, ACORE Education and ACORE Media, operating in Dubai.

He was chosen by the National Council of Global Forum for Public Relations for conferring its prestigious National Award “Golden Triangle” last year. Before this he received the Hall of Fame award for Media Education from Public Relations Council of India.

With a Masters and M Phil in International Relations, and a former Ford Foundation Research Scholar, Prof. Chowdhury worked as the Director of Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication for 7 years, along with being the University Dean there. He has an impressive profile of working as the Media Advisor for organizations like Textiles Ministry, Government of India and WHO Goodwill Ambassador and Nippon Foundation Chairman, YoheiSasakawa of Japan.

He has also worked in Business India, Zee News, Times of India group etc, before coming in Media academics. He is a widely traveled person, having visited 17 countries so far for conferences, seminars, and for shooting documentaries, etc. He is also the honorary Managing Editor of the New Global Indian magazine (monthly, focused on Global Indians) published both out of India and UAE and distributed to 27 countries. He is a founder member of the NGI Foundation. NGI has been media partners for the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas for the last 3 years and also for the Vibrant Gujarat.
