Ritika Sahni

RITIKA SAHNI is a professional singer, performer, composer, producer of children
albums and an Ability Activist. Has been working with Disability related issues for
last the 20 years and founded Trinayani, a cross disability advocacy NGO in 2006,
with the sole desire to inform, communicate and create awareness, tolerance and
respect about the world of persons with disabilities among the non disabled
population and explore and create equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Educational Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Music from Rabindra Bharati University
  • B.Ed. in Deaf Education from Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the
    Hearing Handicapped, Mumbai

Worked in the capacity of a Special Educator in:

  • Manovikas Kendra, Kolkata, working with children with autism.
  • The Oral School for the Deaf, Kolkata, teaching music to the primary children,
    children from the slums in Hindi and economics to students appearing for
    their ICSE exams
  • The Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy, Kolkata with students who had cerebral
    palsy and hearing impairment, training them on augmentative and alternative
    methods of communication.
  • She worked as the Head of the Speech and Language Department of the
    Spastic Society of India, Mumbai from 1999 till 2004.
  • Presently she lectures in all the courses of ADAPT formerly known as The
    Spastic Society of India Mumbai and regularly collaborates with individuals
    and organizations to further the cause of Inclusive Education.
  • She also tours and deliver talks on the Advocacy issues extensively on a global
    scale and has participated in the International Visitors leadership Program
    sponsored by the US state department in 2007.
  • Spearheads all the advocacy programs and events of Trinayani.
