Sundari Sivasubbu

Sundari Sivasuubu is the Communications and Program Officer at HCLT Foundation, the CSR Wing of HCL Technologies. She has Cerebral Palsy (Ataxia) from birth and uses a joy-stick operated wheelchair for mobility.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the art of communication – the written, the spoken, and the unspoken – and its power to bring about a positive change around us, in people, processes and productivity. I’m particularly impressed by how a culture of an open, honest and consistent communication helps in removing barriers in society and in our minds.

I began my career in trade financing in a multinational bank, but the lure of vowels and consonants was so strong that I quit the completely accessible working environment of the bank to pursue my Master’s degree in Communication and Media Studies.
I worked at the New Indian Express as a sub-editor and features-writer. In addition to my editorial responsibilities, I contributed regular book reviews to Education Express; articles, features and interviews under art, education, cinema, conservation, and health, for Sunday Magazine and City Express.
My current position in the CSR division of HCL enables me to combine my passion for communication and the desire to support vulnerable communities around us. I’m part of a very dynamic team that strives to enhance employee engagement through Community Development, Community Giving & Advocacy”.

Some of the workshops/seminars that she has been involved with as the resource person are Building Living Life with a Disability, Teaching Children with Disabilities and Women and Disability. Effective Communication Skills, and Developing the Right Newsletter.
Sundari continues to write for Express when time permits, and loves to interact with school students through interactive storytelling and motivational workshops, writes poetry and paints, and blogs at
