I often get asked about where the camera should be in relation to the yoga mat, and whether I can see you okay.

The answer I almost always give is… it’s fine. There’s no perfect room and no perfect angle and you’ll sometimes find that you can’t see me perfectly well either. The courses are very vocal, you shouldn’t have to look over at the screen to see what i’m doing very often, and likewise even if part of your body is out of shot, I can generally work out how well you;re doing and if you need any help.

But if you’ve read this far and you’re still concerned, here’s the perfect position.

  • Ideally the mat should be long ways and not pointing towards the camera
  • Ideally the camera should be about 3 or 4 metres away from the camera
  • Ideally the mat should be in the bottom of the shot leaving as much space above as possible so i can get a good look at you for those standing poses

Something like this is ideal…..

But if not… DONT WORRY 🙂
